# Global Environmental Crisis

The world is currently facing unprecedented environmental challenges that threaten ecosystems, biodiversity, and human livelihoods. Rapid industrialization, urban expansion, and unsustainable consumption patterns have placed immense pressure on natural resources and ecological systems.

One of the most critical environmental issues is deforestation. Forests are essential for maintaining ecological balance, regulating climate, and preserving biodiversity. However, large areas of forests continue to be lost each year due to logging, agricultural expansion, and infrastructure development.

Climate change represents another major global challenge. Rising greenhouse gas emissions are causing global temperatures to increase, resulting in extreme weather events, melting glaciers, rising sea levels, and disruption of ecosystems.

Biodiversity loss is also accelerating. Many species face extinction due to habitat destruction, illegal wildlife trade, pollution, and climate-related changes to ecosystems.

Additionally, pollution of oceans and freshwater systems has reached alarming levels. Plastic waste, industrial discharge, and chemical pollutants are severely damaging marine ecosystems and threatening aquatic life.

Despite global awareness of these challenges, environmental protection efforts often face limitations due to insufficient funding, lack of transparency, and limited community engagement.

A scalable and incentive-driven environmental protection system is necessary to mobilize global participation and address these challenges effectively.

EarthPulse aims to contribute to this transformation by introducing a decentralized environmental incentive platform powered by blockchain technology.
